Based on results from step #9 together with comparing these results from the predictions in step #8, actions are developed to prevent or minimize the occurrence of serious failures. Such actions may involve any of the following:
Modify the environment to add inhibitors or to change the corrosivity.
Change the design or materials.
Add monitoring equipment.
