CCE 513: Corrosion Engineering

This course consists of a review of corrosion related chemistry and electrochemistry with an introduction to corrosion-related failures. The course is designed to provide an understanding of the corrosion principles and the engineering methods used to minimize and prevent corrosion. Some of the specific topics covered are a description of the multifaceted nature of corrosion, corrosion monitoring and testing, the behavior of ferrous and non-ferrous metals and alloys in various environments, and control measures such as alloy selection, equipment design, cathodic protection, protective coating and inhibitors.
