Corrosion Glossary - X

  • X-ray inspection: non destructive technique using x-ray radiography.
  • X-ray tube: a device for generating X-rays by accelerating electrons from a filament to strike a metal target (anode).
  • X-rays: electromagnetic radiation (photon), of shorter wavelength than ultraviolet radiation. Produced by bombardment of atoms by high quantum energy particles. Radiation wavelength is from 10-11 to 10-9 m.
