Water Glossary - KKalema: A violent surf that occurs on the coast of the Guinea region, West Africa. Kame: A short ridge, hill, or mound of stratified drift deposited by glacial meltwater. Kame terrace: A terrace of stratified sand and gravel deposited by streams between a glacier and an adjacent valley wall. Kilowatt (kw): A unit of electrical power equal to 1000 watts or 1.341 horsepower. Kilowatt hour (kwh): One kilowatt of power applied for one hour. Kinetic Energy: Energy possessed by moving water. Kinetic rate coefficient: A number that describes the rate at which a water constituent such as a biochemical oxygen demand or dissolved oxygen rises or falls.
